The Capacity Building and Organisational Development Working Group focuses its work on building a framework for addressing the fundamental capacity deficits in the microfinance sub-sector, which has serious consequences for the development and growth of the sub-sector in Nigeria. These deficits expand from core microfinance competencies – such as credit risks, to include challenges with regards to management/structural/strategic issues, as well as insufficient incorporation of good corporate governance and continuous organizational improvement processes.
The Microfinance Learning and Development Centre (MLDC) is an initiative of this working group and was established as a strategic response to the capacity development needs of the microfinance banks and the larger microfinance practitioners in Nigeria. The members of the Platform’s Capacity Building and Organizational Development Working Group (CB/OD) were constituted into the MLDC Committee on the 26th May, 2015
Objectives of Working Group
- To address the urgent need for capacity development in the sector by creating an institution that caters to the specific training needs of microfinance institutions in Nigeria.
- To strengthen microfinance institutions with regards to capacity, to promote qualitative growth and to efficiently manage the quality of services.
- To expand capacity development initiatives to include non-microfinance specific knowledge and skills, necessary for professional corporate management for sustainable impact.
