The Microinsurance Working Group (WG) is committed to advancing microinsurance initiatives and expanding access to insurance services within underserved communities. With a focus on promoting active participation and administering benefits to stakeholders, the WG aims to foster a thriving and inclusive microinsurance ecosystem that contributes to sustainable development.

Objectives of Working Group

  • To broaden access to microinsurance services, particularly among marginalized populations, by engaging diverse stakeholders and developing tailored solutions to meet their needs.
  • To develop and implement strategies to promote the uptake of microinsurance products while ensuring the retention of existing policyholders. These strategies are designed to resonate with target audiences and address their unique circumstances and preferences.
  • Facilitate collaboration and partnerships among stakeholders, fostering knowledge exchange, innovation, and collective problem-solving, ultimately strengthening the microinsurance ecosystem and enhancing its impact.
  • Ensure that the benefits of microinsurance coverage are communicated effectively to both current and potential policyholders, emphasizing the value proposition and relevance of insurance in mitigating risks and promoting financial resilience.
  • Continuous monitoring and evaluation of microinsurance initiatives enable us to assess their effectiveness, identify areas for improvement, and ensure alignment with the needs and expectations of stakeholders.
  • Provide capacity building and support to stakeholders involved in microinsurance operations, including insurers, distributors, and policyholders to enhance their capabilities and facilitate the successful implementation of microinsurance programs.
  • Advocating for supportive policies and regulations that promote microinsurance development essential to creating an enabling environment for growth and sustainability within the sector. Through targeted advocacy efforts, we seek to influence policymakers and regulators to prioritize microinsurance as a tool for inclusive financial protection.
